There’s no childhood stress as great as that of examinations. The urge to mug up the entire syllabus one night before is hilarious yet unconquered. Same was the situation with Shivi. With tornadoes of what to do in the upcoming Class 8th Geography Exam in the morning churning her mind, she turned page after page, worrying very less about her favourite show or sleep.
After having the delicious dinner cooked by her mother, Shivi sat down to patchup with her least favourite subject. She looked at the clock. ” Nine o’clock, great! I’ll be the till 11 o’clock or so and then I can peacefully sleep”, she thought. Pages after pages turned. Some gave fear. Some peace. In no time, it was time to pack up.
Shivi still had a topic left, as is usually the case. She thought of completing it early in the morning. Then, as a lightening bolt, a realisation struck her. What if she’s not able to wake up early enough to revise. Yawning, she got up to get water. But, wait, there’s movement in the other room!!!!! Who can it be? She was there, and so were her parents. So a thief? Or, or, a ghost!!!!!!
Frightened, she diverted herself by the case studies, but the only case roaming was in the other room. Applying logics, she figured out that it’s certainly the curtain moving. Still, how can the curtain move if there’s no fan or AC working!! What in the God’s name is happening????
Scared to the sky, Shivi kept the book aside, switched off the light, hid inside the blanket and asking God for help, slept. When she woke up, it was already 6:20 a.m. and in the rush to get ready for school, forget about the moving curtain mystery. Turns out it really was the curtain moving. Her mother had kept the fan of the room to dry some of Shivi’s clothes. On realising this, Shivi couldn’t stop laughing on her silliness.
